Reading the Register today, Microsoft have made a claim that Internet Explorer 9 and the new Internet Explorer 10 support Native HTML5 when running on the Windows platform (i.e. Windows 7 operating system), which everyone on the web knows is a load of marketing rubbish – HTML is not supposed to be native, the web is open and HTML5 can be and will be supported by all browsers.
But this makes me laugh, because if you go to www.html5test.com in Chrome 3, you get a fairly good rating of 288 out of 400. Still a way to go, but good nonetheless. Well, lets put it this way, its better than the result I...

As you have probably seen I expressed my dissapointment about Outcasts being cancelled.
I complained to the BBC and recieved this reply:
“Thanks for contacting us regarding ‘Outcasts’ on BBC One.
I understand you’re unhappy with the cancellation of the series.
We regularly have to make difficult decisions and unfortunately sometimes they will prove to be unpopular with some viewers. In spite of a great cast and production team, ‘Outcasts’ did not find its audience in the way that we had hoped. We remain proud of it but it will not be returning for another series. We can only apologise...

I don’t rant often on my blog, but I guess there is a first time for everything.
For those who don’t know, Outcasts *was* a BBC Sci Fi Drama Series that was set a few years into the future where mankind migrates to a different planet. Cleverly written and superbly acted, it features a great cast and some great story lines. There were 8 episodes in the first series, and the last episode left us hanging for a second series.
And guess what – there won’t be an second series apparently.
I’m slightly biased here as this was one TV series I actually did watch week in, week out. I...

My good lady still doesn’t understand what goes on half the time in this game. One minute I’m watching a video about an old lady trying to get a cat off the top shelf of a supermarket shelving unit, the next I’m bouncing around trying to avoid plasma lasers being shot out by a big fat rectangle head with big teeth. I can kind of see where she is coming from – you can normally tell what game you are expecting to play when you buy it. Gran Turismo 5? Yes, I am a driving game. Call of Duty? Yes, I am a shooting game played by thousands of 13 year olds over 18s as certified.
So you...

I would like to just dedicate a post to a well known book by my Grandad, Cows didn’t graze in Brum. I have read many posts on people trying to obtain a copy and although I am pleased to announce that more will be going into print shortly, this post is not a sales pitch – it is merely a reference for anyone who may be interested in knowing more about his achievements and his other novels, including one that he completed shortly before he passed away and never got published.
So who was A A Hasker? Arthur Alexander Hasker was born in 1921 in the slums of Birmingham, during the depression. He...

No, I didn’t think it was possible either.
If you are reading this then you are probably well aware of what WordPress is, and unless you’ve been living in a cave for the last 10 years or so then you will almost certainly know what Windows is, more specifically, its latest incarnation, Windows 7.
If you know a bit about WordPress, you know that WordPress runs using PHP and MySQL, normally found running on an Apache Server. Simply put, it wasn’t initially built for the Windows platform.
Wanting to set up a test WordPress environment on my box, I did some searching around to see how I...
